Realme UI has no version at the moment (we assume it’s version 1.0) and is based on Android 10. It will arrive during the year to all the Realme still on sale or, what is the same, from the Realme C2 on and it supposes a modernization similar to the one of ColorOS, but with another name.
A new design
Realme UI is technically a new customization layer, although only one terminal has been released with it so far, so the rest will be served as an upgrade from ColorOS 6. This is curious, to say the least, because some Realme mobiles were included in the plan of terminals that would be reached by ColorOS 7.
Be that as it may, the design philosophy of Realme UI is similar to that of ColorOS 7, with designs where the rounded edges prevail, although it should be noted that it’s not a carbon copy as such. They are unique and different designs where simplified and less loaded shapes prevail than in previous versions of Color OS.
In the comparison of Realme UI and ColorOS there is an important paradox, and that is that while Color OS 7 used pleasant and duller colors to reduce eyestrain, Realme UI is more colorful with high contrast color combinations and saturated colors.
ColorOS called it Infinite Design and Realme UI doesn’t seem to have a name for its design philosophy, although it is inevitable that both layers of customization have a lot in common with each other and with other recent modifications such as Samsung One UI: simplification and less dense screens with more white spaces.
Customize icons according to your personal preference
The first version of Realme UI is based on Android 10, so it’s no surprise that it supports different forms of icons. However, this layer goes a step further by allowing you to set the shape of the icons with different sliders to adjust the curvature or angle of the icons, among other settings.
“Do not disturb” mode
For those times when you need to concentrate without being distracted by notifications, Realme UI has a “do not disturb” or concentration mode. It’s as easy as setting the duration you want to stay in mode and it’s over: the system locks out all applications unless you change your mind and decide to turn off the focus mode.
Two way music
A curious feature of Realme UI is the ability to listen to music in two pairs of headphones simultaneously. Of course, one of them must be Bluetooth wireless and the other connected by cable, but that’s more than you can do with other terminals.
Improved performance
These design changes are all very well, but many users are looking for the new version of their customization layer to bring them better performance, and this is also one of the promises of Realme UI.
Huawei has ARK OS, OPPO has UI First and Realme does not have a name for its technology, but data. According to their figures, it speeds up the start of applications by 14%, reduces memory usage by 20% and improves autonomy by 40%.
Realme UI: supported devices list and update schedule
The Realme X50 5G was the first terminal launched directly with Realme UI instead of ColorOS, but it will not be the only one. Realme UI will reach virtually all of the brand’s terminals from the Realme C2, as the company itself shared on Twitter a few weeks ago, when the name of the cape was not yet known. These are the official dates for India, and may vary in other regions.
